“Every ancient civilisation has understood the healing power of massage. A good massage can revitalise your entire body and make you feel relaxed in a matter of minutes.”

Swedish body massage aids the body’s natural mechanism to release stresses, which have built up over a period of time. It is generally a relaxing massage with light to firm pressure using long and gliding movements, kneading, vibration, tapping and friction, which induce mental relaxation and reduce the everyday physical and emotional stress on the body through a nurturing process of touch and response. It decreases muscle soreness, increases flexibility and promotes general health and can be both relaxing and energising and helps to provide a feeling of wellbeing.

Specialising in Deep Tissue Massage with Trigger Point Therapy. Deep Tissue Massage is a preventative and restorative treatment. If you have aches, pains and tensions that cannot be reached by Swedish massage, then you should try deep tissue massage, where the pressure is deeper, the pace slower and pain is alleviated in the long term. Deep Tissue Massage generally focuses on a deeper layer of musculature and fascia. It works to realign the different layers of tissue, treating the tendons, ligaments and fascia, as well as the muscles to release tension and provide pain relief. A therapist can work in a deeper manner by relaxing the superficial musculature and then sinking in to access the deeper muscles. Trigger points can be worked on across the body, to release muscle knots, eliminating pain in the area, surrounding areas and in the areas of referred pain. The list of conditions that can be effectively treated is extensive and includes repetitive strain, postural problems, sciatica, sports injury and recovery from falls and muscle tension and pain across all body areas.

  • Treats chronic pain

  • Relieves muscle tension

  • Helps lower high blood pressure

  • Helps to relieve chronic injury or strain by release of joint strains

  • Enhances drainage of waste products to speed recovery from exercise

Thai Massage was founded about 4,000 years ago by Dr Shivago, a Buddhist, and was handed down orally from generation to generation. This Massage is seen as a traditional ritual not luxury to balance and unblock energies within the body. It is an ancient and unique form of body therapy, incorporating deep stretching and rhythmic compression in a transmission of energy. It is performed on a mat on the floor with the client remaining fully clothed. It uses body weight rather than muscular force to exert pressure creating a highly therapeutic effect. It is based on energy lines or "Sen" which follow the form of the body. Thai tradition recognises 72,000 Sen in theory but in practice 10 Sen serve as the foundation. Pressure is exerted on these lines and points with the palms of the hands, the thumbs and in some cases the elbows. Thai Massage affects the entire body by increasing flexibility, releasing both deep and superficial tension and helping the body's natural energy to flow more freely. The result is an opening of the body which leaves one feeling both relaxed and energised at the same time.

I practice Nuad Bo-Rarn (Northern style) Thai Massage.

Physically, this can relax tight muscles and improve circulation, nervous function and joint mobility. This increases the body's fluidity and can ease many short and long term ailments.

“Your feet are a map to the health of your entire body”

Reflexology is an ancient technique that consists of massage techniques and the application of pressure to specific points on the soles of the feet. Reflex areas in the feet correspond to all organs and parts of the body and working on them reduces tension, illness and restores balance. In Thai philosophy “energy lines” known as ‘Sen’ run though out the entire body with specific points ending at the feet and hands. The obstruction of this flow of energy is the root cause of discomfort or illness in a person and the techniques of Thai Foot Massage stimulate and open these channels. This treatment can be targeted based on your health concerns.

Massage has many benefits for body, mind and spirit. It should not, however, be done directly over bruised, inflamed or infected skin, rashes or wounds, fragile bones, or areas of recent fractures, tumours or abdominal hernias. If you have recently had surgery, chemotherapy or any other medical procedure, please check with your doctor before having a massage. Deep tissue massage and other firm pressure may not be suitable during pregnancy. Massage can be unsafe if you have or are at risk of forming blood clots as these can become dislodged.

Neal's Yard products are used for treatments which are natural, organic and ethical.
