What is an Integrative Approach?
I really believe in a integrative approach to improving wellbeing, offering holistic therapies, which look at the individual as a whole: the physical body, mentality, emotionality, and spiritual aspect. Yoga can help calm and clear the mind so the practitioner can come back to their intuition and innate wisdom, as well as realign muscles and create space in the skeleton, improving posture; strengthen and stretch muscles; and release pain and tension in the body. Massage also offers many of the same benefits, and while it does not strengthen muscles, it provides a calm and meditative space for the client to release old thoughts and unhelpful holding patterns in the mental, emotional, and physical body.
In addition to yoga and massage working on the whole individual, counselling can help a person sort and process their thoughts, clear confusion, provide clarity of mind, and offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space to improve self-awareness, mental and emotional health. It can also support growth and development toward becoming a fully functioning person, living in flow and able to cultivate a healthy relationship with themselves and others.
Exciting News: Integrative Counselling Coming Soon
A pluralistic model of counselling in Integrative Counselling, allows the therapist to draw on different therapeutic modalities at different times, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or Psychodynamic Therapy, using them separately or in combination where appropriate. This flexible and holistic approach supports the client using the most suitable tools for their needs in the moment.
This is why I am really excited to share the news with you, that alongside continuing my work with Metta Yoga and Massage in Bath and Bristol, I have just begun training in Advanced Integrative Counselling, developing upon the Foundation in Counselling and Psychotherapy training I carried out at the Bath Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BCPC). I believe it will add to the pluralistic healing benefits of the holistic therapies of yoga and massage in Bath and Bristol, that Metta already offers.
This is a path I have felt drawn to for a long time, and I am looking forward to weaving new perspectives and insights into the care and support I offer through my practice. My aim has always been to create a space where people feel seen, supported, and empowered, whether that is through yoga classes, massage therapy, or counselling in the future.

What is Integrative Counselling?
Integrative counselling is an approach that combines different therapeutic models to suit the unique needs of each client. I believe in a pluralistic approach to therapy: no single method works for everyone, and different people benefit from different tools at different times.
Having personally experienced a variety of talking therapies and group therapy, I have seen how each can bring unique benefits. That is why I believe it is helpful to integrate multiple approaches rather than focusing on just one.
For example:
Some clients may find it valuable to explore childhood experiences through psychodynamic theory.
Others may need practical coping strategies from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Many people benefit from a combination of approaches, adapted over time.
At the core of my counselling philosophy is a person-centred approach, rooted in empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard. I see therapy as a collaborative and authentic relationship, where creativity, adaptability, and recognition of a client’s uniqueness are key.
In other words, I believe we are holistic beings, and therefore require holistic treatment plans that meet us where we are in each moment.
