Vinyasa Yoga Classes

Vinyasa Yoga Classes

FLEXIBILITY. STRENGTH. ENERGY

A one-to-one course, of 6 or 12 hours, will teach the practitioner a sequence of Vinyasa Yoga postures (tailored to the student if desired): the elements of Vinyasa Yoga; the correct alignment of postures and their modifications. The practitioner will then be able to practice the sequence at home, and also confidently attend group classes.

Vinyasa yoga is a creative lead yoga class that flows from one pose to the next, without time for the teacher to explain in quite as much detail about the finer points of each pose because of this flow. Students come away with a good workout as well as a varied yoga experience. If you are new to yoga, it is a good idea to first take a few classes in the slower style of Hatha yoga to get a feel for the poses. Vinyasa yoga is influenced by the dynamic style and synchronisation of breath with movement of Ashtanga yoga.

The beauty of Vinyasa yoga is the variety. There is no standard sequence in Vinyasa yoga, so the style, pace and intensity will all vary depending on the teacher. Classes may be sequenced around a peak pose such as a backbend, or they might focus on a particular theme such as the chakras or an aspect of yoga philosophy. The class may be dynamic and focus on strengthening postures, or it may be a slower flow with an emphasis on mobility and flexibility in the spine or the hips.
